Salmonella Concerns Lead to Recall of Kirkland Organic Eggs in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of approximately 11,000 retail units of organic eggs due to potential salmonella contamination.

On Wednesday, Handsome Brook Farms announced the voluntary recall of 24-count eggs sold under the Kirkland Signature brand in several states.

Beginning November 22, the company reports that possibly contaminated eggs were available for purchase at 25 Costco locations across Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

There is a possibility that the eggs in question may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can lead to serious or even fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

A person in good health might show symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain if they have a Salmonella infection. In rare cases, when Salmonella gets into the bloodstream, it may result in serious health issues like endocarditis, arthritis, and infections in the arteries.

Handsome Brook Farms reports that there have been no disease complaints reported so far.

If you possess any eggs from the recall list, it’s advisable to cease consumption, return them to your nearest Costco for a refund, or dispose of them properly.

For inquiries regarding the recall, please reach out to Handsome Brook Farms at 646-733-4532, ext. 1, available Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.
