HPP– Recent investigations by the FBI revealed that the enigmatic drones in New Jersey obstructed a medevac helicopter from delivering a critically injured patient to the hospital.
A medical helicopter was en route to an accident in Branchburg Township, Somerset County, last Tuesday, but could not retrieve the crash victim because drones were present in the landing area, officials reported.
Two security officers from Raritan Valley Community College blocked off roads to secure the crash site ahead of the helicopter’s arrival, according to Brian Serge, the college’s security supervisor.
The local fire captain announced the cancellation of the request just before 7 p.m. because of the dangerous presence of drones, he stated.
“We never found out what the actual drones were,” Serge said. “It’s kind of a mystery. We were asking around about that, but nobody knew anything.”
Recent drone sightings have been reported in central New Jersey over the last two weeks, close to President-elect Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf course.
Groups of drones have been seen hovering for hours near the Raritan River almost every night recently. A Parsippany woman reported seeing as many as five unidentified aircraft flying above on Sunday night.
The Federal Aviation Administration has put in place two temporary flight restrictions over Morris and Somerset counties due to several reports of unusual aircraft activity in the airspace above Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and the US Army hub Picatinny Arsenal in nearby Dover, NJ.
The FAA indicated that it has been receiving reports since November 18. An agency spokesperson stated that the FBI sought the restrictions “out of an abundance of caution.”
The limitations will stay in place until December 26.
The FBI is requesting that witnesses submit high-resolution images of the “questionable flights” they have taken to its office for additional examination.
