New Jersey Man Rushed to Hospital after Stepson Launched Hammer Attack in Woodbridge; Critical Condition Reported

Woodbridge; NJ– A 48-year-old man is currently in critical condition after being attacked with a hammer on Saturday evening.

Ongoing investigations have revealed that the victim was found at approximately 6:42 p.m. at a home on Sherry Street.

Authorities have taken Ronald Javier Polanco-Barrera, 22, of Woodbridge, into custody.

Authorities report that Polanco-Barrera allegedly struck his stepfather in the head several times with a hammer. He is confronted with several serious allegations, such as attempted murder and aggravated assault.

The individual is currently in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Polanco-Barrera faces serious charges, including

  • First-degree attempted murder,
  • Second-degree aggravated assault,
  • Third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and
  • Fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
