Freeport, ME– L.L. Bean, located in Freeport, Maine, has revealed plans for another set of layoffs this year.
A representative from the company announced on Monday that the layoffs will affect approximately 50 to 75 individuals. This represents 2-3% of the staff located in Maine for the company.
The organization pointed to a “changing retail environment” and the aim to “support sustainable growth” as factors behind the job cuts.
Impacted employees will receive severance packages and outplacement services, with some departures being voluntary.
The latest round of job cuts follows a previous announcement made just months ago regarding layoffs for customer service personnel and a decrease in call center operating hours last April.
L.L. Bean eliminated 200 jobs across the company in 2020 and closed its Lewiston call center the following year, according to News Center Maine.
