Dover Man Arrested After Burglary Spree Targeting Safes and Businesses

Dover, DA– Authorities in Delaware have taken 33-year-old Kenneth Yarborough into custody in connection with multiple burglary investigations that took place in November and December 2024.

In the early hours of November 24, 2024, around 3 a.m., law enforcement officers arrived at Ollies Bargain Outlet, situated at 1726 S. Governors Avenue in Dover, following reports of a burglary. Authorities have concluded that the individual gained unauthorized access to the establishment with a crowbar, resulting in damage. A theft occurred involving a safe that held an unspecified sum of cash, after which the perpetrator escaped. Footage captured the individual dressed in dark attire, sporting a hood, and holding a backpack.

On November 24, 2024, around 7 a.m., law enforcement arrived at God’s Way Thrift Store located at 5321 S. Dupont Highway in Dover. The individual unlawfully entered by shattering a window, resulting in interior damage. A theft occurred involving a safe with an undisclosed sum of cash inside. The footage shows the individual clad in dark attire, sporting a hood and carrying a backpack.

On December 6, 2024, around 6 a.m., law enforcement officers were called to Delaware Auto Exchange at 10182 S. Dupont Highway in Felton to respond to a reported burglary. A break-in occurred as the suspect forced entry through a window with a crowbar, resulting in damage. The individual tried to withdraw cash from the registers, but no funds were available. The individual escaped the area dressed in a dark hoodie and carrying a backpack.

On December 9, 2024, around 5:40 a.m., law enforcement arrived at Village Produce located at 1724 S. Dupont Highway in Dover. A suspect gained unauthorized access by prying open a door with a crowbar, resulting in damage. The individual entered the premises, found two safes filled with an undisclosed sum of cash, and made a quick escape. Footage once more captured the individual in a dark hoodie and carrying a backpack.

On December 6, 2024, the Smyrna Police Department initiated an investigation into a burglary that occurred at End Zone in Smyrna. In the course of the investigation, the individual employed a crowbar to force entry into a business and made off with a safe. In a joint effort, detectives from the Smyrna Police Department and the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit have pinpointed Kenneth Yarborough as the individual in question.

A search warrant was carried out at Yarborough’s home on December 11, 2024. Investigators have located the backpack captured in the surveillance video along with apparel matching what was worn during the break-ins.

He faces the following charges:

  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony- 4 counts (Felony)
  • Burglary Third Degree (Felony)- 4 counts (Felony)
  • Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)-4 counts (Felony)
  • Theft $1500 or Greater (Felony)
  • Attempted to Commit Theft Under $1500
  • Theft Under $1500- 2 counts
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1000- 4 counts

On the same day, Yarborough was apprehended by Delaware Probation and Parole and subsequently handed over to the Smyrna Police Department and DSP Troop 3. He faced charges for the offenses outlined below and was brought before Justice of the Peace Court 2, where he was released on his own recognizance regarding the DSP’s charges. Despite this, he is still held by the Department of Corrections because of a breach of probation.
