In the wake of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Interstate 95 on Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver who was involved in the incident.
At approximately four in the morning, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a call about a collision involving two vehicles that occurred on southbound Interstate 95 just south of Northwest 79th Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a dark blue BWM sedan that was heading southbound in the outside lane experienced a collision with the rear of a gold Nissan sedan.
Even though the driver was still inside, the Nissan caught fire and was completely consumed by flames. The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the BMW is suspected to have fled the scene on foot, according to the officials who investigated the incident.
After arriving, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue put out the fire that had been started. A temporary closure has been implemented on the route.
