Monday morning saw a collision on West Newberry Road that resulted in the deaths of three people.
According to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, Newberry Road (SR 26) has reopened after being closed in both directions, with the eastbound lanes blocked at Northwest 122nd Street and the westbound lanes stopped at 98th Street.
A motorbike and a car were involved in the collision, which resulted in the deaths of three people, according to officials from Alachua County Fire Rescue.
The sedan was reportedly entering Newberry Road from Northwest 109th Street when it was struck by a motorcycle, according to law enforcement officials. As a result of the impact, the automobile flipped over.
Both of the women who were traveling in the vehicle, a 59-year-old and a 90-year-old, were slain. Both of them were from Gainesville. The motorcyclist, a man from Archer who was 31 years old, also passed away.
Investigating the collision are the state troopers.
