Kansas and Missouri Hit with Historic Snowstorm, KCI Airport Records Over 10 Inches

HPP: Monday marked the end of the snowstorm, which had been accompanied by severe blizzard conditions that had transitioned into freezing cold air.

All of the official snowfall reports have been made public now that the storm is concluded.

Both the Pleasant Hill and Topeka offices of the National Weather Service were responsible for the dissemination of these bulletins. The forecast that predicted a snowfall of 8 to 12 inches in the local area, with larger quantities north of Interstate 70, was found to be correct, as indicated by the data.

The measurements of snowfall that were taken in the majority of the metropolitan region fell outside of this range.

Generally speaking, regions that are situated south of Interstate 70 have suffered a more significant reduction in the amount of snowfall. Northeast Kansas, on the other hand, had some of the greatest snowfall totals as a result of the storm.

A significant number of these measures were made either by the time Sunday came to a close or in the wee hours of Monday morning.

At Kansas City International Airport, while the official snowfall total recorded was 11 inches, there was a measurement that stood out as particularly noteworthy. As a result of this tremendous accumulation, it is the fourth-largest single-day snowfall total in the history of Kansas City.

Although the snowstorm is coming to an end, the region is now confronted with the issue of extremely cold air; yet, the heavy snowfall that was caused by the storm is likely to continue to be a topic of debate for some days to come.
