In certain regions, existing programs have been upheld, and fresh initiatives have been introduced to assist residents in managing their finances.
A new initiative is set to launch in California, aimed at offering financial assistance to randomly chosen families living under 200% of the federal poverty threshold.
The Sacramento Family First (FFESP) program aims to enhance the well-being of children in qualifying families while addressing economic disparities. This initiative will benefit 200 participants, providing them with a monthly direct payment of $725 for a duration of one year, starting from December 15, 2024, and concluding on November 15, 2025.
Individuals will have funds transferred directly to their bank accounts associated with their tax filings. If this information cannot be accessed, a physical check will be mailed to the registered address.
Eligible Income Criteria for Sacramento Family First Program
To qualify for the Sacramento Family First program, applicants need to demonstrate an annual household income that is below 200% of the federal poverty line (FPL). The income limit set at 200% of the federal poverty level varies according to the size of the household, as outlined in the following table:
- 2 people (i.e. 1 adult and 1 child): $40,880.
- 3 people (i.e. 1 adult and 2 children, or 2 adults and 1 child): $51,640.
- 4 people: $62,400.
- 5 people: $73,160.
- 6 people: $83,920.
- 7 people: $94,680.
- 8 people: $105,440.
For families exceeding 8 members, include an additional $10,760 for every extra individual.
The total income of a household is determined by summing the earnings or wages of every member prior to tax deductions. This does not account for any benefits provided by the government that you might be eligible for.
