CVS Health is set to implement 42 additional layoffs at the Aetna headquarters in Hartford, primarily affecting remote employees located in various states, as indicated by a WARN notice submitted to the state Labor Department late on Monday.
The upcoming layoffs, scheduled to begin on January 25, follow the announcement of 416 job cuts affecting Hartford-related employees made on October 6.
The company’s Connecticut workforce has faced considerable downsizing, following the announcement of 600 job cuts last year, as its health insurance sector continues to face challenges. CVS Health made a significant leadership change last month, parting ways with Aetna veteran Karen Lynch as CEO.
On Monday, 12 employees based at the Aetna headquarters located at 151 Farmington Ave. close to downtown Hartford will be affected by the layoffs. Thirty employees continue to report to the Hartford building, while being located in various states such as Texas, Arizona, Utah, and Massachusetts.
“All employees who will be terminated as a result of this action have been notified of their specific separation dates and that their separation from employment will be permanent,” CVS Health stated in its letter to the Labor Department.
