An individual who was under the influence of alcohol is said to have been the driver of a vehicle that collided with a power pole on Wednesday evening in Hastings.
Highway 281 and 42nd Street in Hastings were the locations where the accident took place on Wednesday evening at about six o’clock.
As a result of the collision between the vehicle and a power line pole on 42nd Street, the north side of Hastings experienced a power outage, and businesses were forced to close their doors for more than an hour.

A minimum of five hundred consumers were reported to be without power by Hastings Utilities.
Tyler Middleton, 32 years old, a resident of Hastings, was recognized as the driver by the Hastings Police Department on Thursday morning.
After the accident, Middleton was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not disclosed. At this time, his condition is considered unknown.
Middleton was provided with a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol by the police; however, the authorities were unable to determine his blood alcohol concentration (BAC).
The Hastings Police Department is carrying on with its investigation at this time, looking into additional aspects of the incident.
