A cold front is set to bring cooler temperatures on Sunday, with the coldest air arriving next week, as reported by Orlando TV station WKMG. Temperatures in Central Florida may drop to the 30s, with regions northwest of Interstate 4 potentially facing freezing conditions, according to the station.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Melbourne, Florida, reported on Tuesday that temperatures are reaching highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, indicating that it is “slightly warmer.”
On Thanksgiving, the Sunshine State is expected to experience a slight chance of severe weather, as reported by the NWS office in Tallahassee. The office reported that the risk level is at 1 out of 5, attributed to the cold front.
The Climate Prediction Center has issued a warning for a possible “hard freeze” impacting the Southeast, particularly northern Florida. The center indicated that this is expected to arrive early next week. “The center advised to safeguard vulnerable plants and reminded travelers heading south to pack their jackets!”
Last weekend, parts of Florida saw temperatures drop into the 30s, reaching as far south as Lake Okeechobee, as reported by meteorologist Jeff Berardelli from Tampa’s WFLA.
In the United States, several Western states are facing winter weather alerts with snow expected in California.
On Monday, the NWS shared a warning on X about the approaching winter weather, stating, “Heavy snow is anticipated early this week in the higher elevations of the western U.S. and the UP of Michigan.”
Snow has begun to fall in Reno, Nevada, as reported by the NWS station, and a winter storm warning is currently active for the Greater Lake Tahoe region. “Snow is beginning to fall, affecting travel conditions.” The station advised on X on Monday to pay attention to all restrictions.
