Authorities raid drug house in the Bronx, leading to one arrest and the seizure of 12 kilos of fentanyl.
A man was taken into custody following a police raid on a Bronx residence, where authorities found 12 kilograms of fentanyl on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by law enforcement sources.
Law enforcement arrived at a hidden drug lab in a Belmont apartment complex around 3 p.m., leading to the arrest of a 66-year-old man, as reported by police and sources.
Authorities reported the discovery of twelve kilos of fentanyl inside a residence.
According to the FDNY, eight officers from various agencies involved in the raid received treatment for minor injuries. Two additional individuals received treatment as well.
A collaborative effort by the New York Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and New York state troopers took place around 3 p.m. on the first floor of a building located between Prospect Ave. and Southern Blvd. in Belmont.
“I had no idea,” said Brett Boston, the superintendent of the building. “Apparently they weren’t selling fentanyl, they were packaging.”
It is reported that ten individuals were injured during the operation, comprising eight first responders and two civilians, all of whom sustained minor injuries. An NYPD detective received on-site treatment, while a state trooper was transported to St. Barnabas hospital for care.
Before the operation, two daycare centers located on the first and third floors of the building were cleared out.
There were no reports of injuries to children.
