Brockton, MA– A year-long investigation dubbed Operation Hellcat has unraveled a sophisticated car theft ring responsible for stealing high-end vehicles across multiple states. The operation, involving more than 36 law enforcement agencies, has led to the recovery of 63 stolen vehicles and over $2.6 million in assets, Brockton police announced.
The organized ring targeted dealerships, stealing vehicles primarily between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. from June 2023 to November 2024. Using advanced technology, including Autel Devices, the suspects created functional key fobs, enabling them to program new keys and steal cars within minutes.
Multi-Agency Effort and Seizures
On December 11, 2024, search warrants were executed at 11 residences and a garage, yielding firearms, burglary tools, key fobs, Autel devices, and stolen vehicle license plates. The investigation also uncovered several high-end vehicles, including Dodge Durango Hellcats, which the operation was named after.
Among the 10 men arrested, Brockton police highlighted several key arrests:
- James Senat: Arraigned on charges of machine gun possession and vehicle theft, Senat’s bail was set at $100,000. A search of his home revealed firearms, large-capacity magazines, an Autel device, key fobs, and a suspected stolen license plate.
- Nelson Pires: Charged with car theft and possession of burglary tools, Pires’ bail was set at $50,000. Evidence tied to him included a Dodge Durango Hellcat key fob and paperwork for an Autel device.
- Jason Brito: Authorities found firearms, gun parts, and a stolen license plate in Brito’s residence. He faces charges of vehicle theft and firearms violations.
- Kevin DeGraca: Found with an Anderson AM-15 rifle, large-capacity magazines, and armor-piercing rounds, DeGraca is held on a $50,000 bail for a probation violation.

- Micaiah Taylor: Another suspect still wanted in connection with the thefts.
Community Impact and Safety Measures
Authorities emphasized the advanced nature of the operation, which posed challenges due to the use of sophisticated technology. The stolen vehicles, primarily luxury models, were often resold or used in criminal activities.
Brockton Police Chief Michael Smith urged residents to remain vigilant, especially car dealership owners, recommending enhanced security measures and surveillance systems to deter future thefts.
A Reminder for Communities
The dismantling of this operation highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling organized crime. While many suspects are in custody, police are still seeking information about the whereabouts of the two fugitives.
