While driving on I-10, a woman rescued a kitten with the assistance of an Incident Response Unit member from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Animal lover and Arizona Department of Transportation employee Rich Dimaio saw a woman attempting to grab a kitten while driving on I-10 in west Phoenix on November 6. To assist the lady, he stopped.
The woman successfully caught the kitten and wrapped him in a towel, according to a news release from ADOT. Dimaio was informed by her that the cat had been tossed out of the window of the vehicle ahead of her. The feline was slightly hurt when it collided with the woman’s vehicle.
The Arizona Department of Transportation reports that Dimaio entrusted the kitten’s care to the Arizona Humane Society, where he was lovingly named Martin. Martin was healthy and ready to find a new home as a working cat after only two weeks.
Working Cats is a program run by the Arizona Humane Society that helps find homes for cats that aren’t good fits for indoor living. People who own barns or warehouses and are looking for a furry companion to help keep pests at bay frequently adopt cats through this program.
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) issued a strong warning to anyone who could harm an animal by abandoning it in a moving vehicle.
