An Amazon driver was stabbed in Fort Lauderdale after having a flat tire, and authorities reported on Tuesday morning that a guy in his thirties has been detained. The incident occurred just over a week ago.
Based on the information provided by the police, Curtis Gardner, a resident of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody on Monday morning and charged with felony attempted murder, armed carjacking, and burglary with battery.
According to the police, the stabbing took place on Saturday, December 7, shortly after 7:30 p.m., when the car stopped in the 1100 block of Northwest 10th Terrace following the incident.
In the surveillance video, the victim can be seen pounding on the door of a nearby residence in an attempt to get assistance; however, he manages to escape before the person who lives inside can open the door.
After that, the man reportedly walked to a convenience store in the area to ask for assistance, and the medical personnel there transported him to Broward Health Medical Center with critical injuries.
It was reported by Asim Roy, the manager of the Fiesta Food Market, that staff sat the delivery driver down, got him some water, contacted the police, and stood guard as policemen arrived.
According to Roy, “It is our responsibility as human beings to assist the people on the planet.” “Under any circumstances, you are aware that for me, life is the most important thing — the option than anything else.”
During the previous week, Casey Liening, a spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, stated that the attack appeared to be “random” and that the driver “is expected to recover.”
At this point in time, it does not appear that the flat tire was the result of any purposeful actions; nevertheless, the investigation is still ongoing, and the information shown here may be subject to change. It is currently being investigated whether or not the loss was the result of a robbery that occurred during the incident.
On Tuesday, Gardner was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail. He was released on Wednesday.
