New budget-friendly housing development in southeast Austin for seniors and individuals requiring additional support
An apartment complex has opened its doors for Austin residents looking for budget-friendly housing options. The Ekos City Heights apartments have officially opened their doors on Nuckols Crossing Road, located on the southeast side of the city.
A $42 million initiative is tailored for elderly individuals and those requiring additional assistance.
Over 50% of the 179 newly available affordable units are set aside for families earning below 50% of Austin’s median family income. The complex features accommodations for residents with mobility challenges, and 10 units are designated to assist individuals transitioning out of homelessness.
Mandy DeMayo, the acting head of the Housing Department, stated that this initiative reflects the city’s dedication to assisting seniors and at-risk residents of Austin in securing stable housing.
“We are excited to celebrate the opening of yet another property that is not only an affordable housing residence but one which will also serve those 55 and older, individuals with impairments and those exiting homelessness,” said DeMayo. “These new residences highlight the value the city places on all Austin residents, including seniors and people experiencing homelessness.”
A collaboration between McDowell Housing Partners and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation has led to the creation of new residences. Asset Living has been appointed as the property manager.
Applications are now open for the complex. Interested individuals have the option to apply online or visit in person.
