A plane crash that occurred on Thursday morning near a residence in New York that was owned by offensive lineman Dion Dawkins of the Buffalo Bills resulted in the death of the pilot.
According to statements made by Police Chief Patrick Welch to the media, the tiny private plane, a 1979 Beechcraft A36, was traveling from Lansing, Michigan, to White Plains, New York, when it had a mechanical problem and crashed in East Aurora.
At the time of the accident, which occurred around 20 miles southeast of Buffalo, the only person on board was the pilot, who tragically lost his life. However, they have not been recognized as of yet.
The single-engine plane reportedly fell in a private neighborhood next to 100 Stewart Court, which was a home that had been sold for $1.3 million in 2022, according to Realtor.com. The police said the crash occurred in the neighborhood.
According to ESPN, a “visibly emotional” Dawkins expressed his concern by saying, “I just hope that the pilot’s family is right.” The gridiron great continued by saying, “I hope that they are doing all right because somebody lost their life today.”
At the time that Dawkins learned about the accident, which took place on Thursday morning shortly before 11:30 a.m., he was getting ready for another session.
In addition, I am relieved to hear that my family is doing well.
