Ruskin Home Invasion Turns Deadly as Armed Intruder Killed by Homeowner’s Son during Break-In

A suspect armed with a weapon has died following a break-in at a residence in Ruskin, as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Early Sunday morning, at approximately 12:24 a.m., authorities were alerted to a break-in at a residence located in the 3000 block of Double D Ranch Trail.

Deputies arrived to discover the suspect deceased with several gunshot wounds. Authorities found that the homeowner’s grown son fired at the intruder during the break-in.

“Imagine the fear of being awoken in the middle of the night to a stranger invading your home,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “This is every homeowner’s greatest fear, a dangerous and brazen individual breaking in, showing a complete disregard for the safety and security of others. Our thoughts are with this family as they recover from the trauma of this event.”

No additional information has been provided.

The investigation is still ongoing.
