Santa Ana Winds Spark Warming Trend Across Southland Heading Into the Weekend

Expect dry and warm conditions to persist throughout the week, leading to a December weekend that feels warmer than usual.

Morning clouds dissipated on Wednesday, leaving only the immediate coastline affected into the early afternoon. Early Thursday morning will see the return of low clouds and fog, though it appears they will remain primarily along the coast for early Friday morning.

Following Wednesday afternoon, temperatures are set to rise due to mild Santa Ana winds expected on Friday and Saturday. Strong gusts of wind from the northeast could reach speeds of 35 miles per hour along and near the coastal mountain slopes.

On Thursday, expect daytime temperatures to reach the mid-60s along the coast, low 70s in the inland valleys, upper 60s in the mountains, and low 80s in the desert regions.

The upcoming weekend is set to bring significantly higher temperatures than usual for this season, with places such as El Cajon potentially experiencing 80-degree weather on Saturday.

The valleys are expected to experience temperatures soaring 10 to 15 degrees above the norm.
