Southern California is now facing a wood-burning ban as a result of the persistent poor air quality affecting the region.
The prohibition commenced on Wednesday and is set to remain in place until at least 11:59 p.m. on Thursday evening, as stated by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
A no-burn order will impact everyone residing in Orange County and the South Coast Air Basin, as well as the non-desert areas of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.
Nonetheless, the directive does not apply to residents of mountain areas above 3,000 feet, the Coachella Valley, and the high desert regions. Those who depend solely on wood for heating, low-income families, and individuals without access to natural gas are not subject to this requirement.
The use of wood for burning, whether inside or outside, is not allowed, along with the burning of manufactured fire logs.
Officials have indicated that tiny particles found in wood smoke can enter the lungs and lead to respiratory problems.
