HPP: Law enforcement officials have reported that a guy who was wanted in connection with a tragic carjacking that occurred at a truck stop in Southern Kentucky has been caught as a result of a police pursuit that took place in Illinois.
It has been determined that the suspect, who has been identified as Brian Lee Kerr Jr., is the primary suspect in a carjacking event that resulted in a fatality.
According to the allegations, the event took place on December 28 near Oak Grove, Kentucky, and Kerr is accused of shooting the victim many times before escaping in the vehicle that was taken.
Kerr allegedly drove the stolen vehicle to Humphreys County, Tennessee, where he abandoned it and stole another vehicle, which was supposedly owned by a deer hunter. The authorities indicated that Kerr was responsible for the criminal activity.
The second vehicle, a truck, was later involved in an accident in Maury County, Tennessee, caused by Kerr. According to additional information provided by the deputies, it was thought that Kerr was in possession of two handguns as well as an AR-15 rifle.
In addition, law enforcement officers disclosed that Kerr has a previous criminal record, which includes a conviction for first-degree murder in the state of Tennessee that dates back to the past year (2004).
The investigators made the observation that Kerr is known to have aggressive tendencies and is a methamphetamine addict on a regularly occurring basis.
When he led law enforcement police on a pursuit in Illinois on January 5, just a few days after the fatal carjacking that occurred in Oak Grove, his illegal behavior turned into a more serious situation. Kerr was subsequently taken into custody by the Illinois State Police after the pursuit they had been conducting.
According to the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, Kerr is wanted in the county for a number of crimes, including the theft of property with a value greater than $10,000 and possession of a firearm while a convicted felon.
Although the authorities have indicated that Kerr may be subject to further charges in connection with the tragic carjacking that occurred in Kentucky and the police pursuit that took place in Illinois, precise specifics regarding those charges have not been disclosed at this time.
As of this moment, law enforcement has not disclosed any other information regarding the legal processes or additional charges that have been brought against Kerr.
