HPP: On Thursday, officials in South Carolina claimed that a person who was suspected of being an illegal immigrant made a false bomb threat while being stopped for traffic.
This led to the arrest of the individual. The incident resulted in a substantial disturbance, which resulted in the closure of a portion of Interstate 85 for close to five hours.
Around 2:45 p.m., the state transport police made the decision to pull over the guy, who has been named as Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, who is 28 years old. According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), the reason for the stop was because the tractor-trailer that Alhendi was driving did not have a license plate attached to it.
A police officer was notified by Alhendi that there was an explosive device inside the commercial vehicle while the vehicle was being stopped for traffic violations.
In response to this declaration, quick action was taken, and as a precaution, all six lanes of Interstate 85 near Mile Marker 44 were closed. During the investigation into the bomb threat, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation participated together.

The closure caused considerable delays in traffic, with vehicles backed up along the highway in a manner that was similar to a bumper-to-bumper situation.
The officials came to the conclusion that the threat was not true after conducting a comprehensive examination and removing the 18-wheeler from the area. Following the lengthy disruption, all lanes of Interstate 85 were restored at approximately 7:40 p.m., thereby resuming the flow of traffic.

Alhendi made an appearance in court the next day, where he was confronted with a number of charges. The distribution of false information regarding a bomb threat, a breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, and the absence of a vehicle license were among the offenses that were committed.
A total surety bond amounting to $20,238 was established by the court for all three counts. After that, Alhendi was transported to the Greenville County Detention Center for further processing.
Alhendi was placed on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer, according to a spokeswoman from the Greenville County Detention Center.
A possible illegal immigrant who may be subject to deportation from the nation is the subject of this detainer, which functions as a holding of notice.
Furthermore, the South Carolina Department of Public Safety has verified that the tractor-trailer that was involved in the incident is registered with Globe Transportation, which is a corporation that is headquartered in Illinois.
